Become a qualified language interpreter in the public sector

We are offering residents a pathway to work as a face-to-face interpreter in the public sector. Delivered by Work Hounslow, Learn Hounslow and in partnership with Job Centre Plus and LanguageLine, this 20-week training programme will help you work gain the qualification and connect with employers to access work experience.

This 20-week training programme will help you work towards a Level 2 Certificate in Community Interpreting and as part of the course, you will:

  • Gain 50 hours of paid freelance work with LanguageLine
  • Take part in a guaranteed job interview

Training will take place both online and in-person from Thursday, 8 October. In-person sessions will be held at Cranford Pop Up, 644 Bath Road, TW5 9TL

A Work Hounslow employment advisor will provide careers advice and guidance for learners, including support with interview preparations and exploring career options.

This course is free for eligible residents if you are:
  • Aged 19 and above on 31 August
  • A Hounslow resident who's not in employment, education or training
  • Receiving Universal Credit of Jobseeker's Allowance

To enrol, you must already hold an English Level 2 qualification or above and pass language assessments with Learn Hounslow and LanguageLine.
