Description

This bootcamp is a FREE 14-week full-time training course for borough residents to secure entry level jobs in landscaping, trees and grounds keeping. Candidates will gain industry recognised certificates, take part in local work placements and be offered a guaranteed interview upon completion of the course.

The training will run Monday to Friday, 7am-3:00pm between 1 September to 5 December 2025.

Candidates will build a portfolio of certifications and experience over the 14 weeks, developing their knowledge and skills in the industry and gaining a credible employer's work reference for their CV.

Funded by the Mayor of London, the training includes two weeks of intensive classroom and practical training, followed by a rotation of three 4-week work placements with local employers. The final week will include employability training and a ‘Meet the Employers’ event to support candidates applying for jobs.

Travel costs will be covered for candidates over the full 14 weeks as training will be delivered in Windsor and Hounslow.

Candidates that successfully complete the bootcamp will receive their industry certificates and be offered a guaranteed interview with employers who are looking to hire new talent.

Essential criteria

Candidates must meet all the following criteria:
  • You must be aged 19 and over (on 31 August 2025).
  • Unemployed or in receipt of means-tested benefits.
  • Living in the London Borough of Hounslow.
  • All candidates should have a good standard of English, Maths and digital skills.

Desirable criteria

  • Full UK driving licence is highly desirable in this industry and will support candidates to secure a job at the end of the course.
  • Early morning starts and full time working.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and able to follow instructions.

Additional information

PPE will be supplied.  

As part of the course induction, you will be screened for Numeracy Entry Level 2, Literacy Entry Level 3 and Basic Digital Skills 

Training will take place across different sites: 

  • Green Skills Training Academy located at Pigeonhouse Farm, Maydencroft, Common Rd, Dorney, Windsor, SL4 6QB (a mini-van will be organised for this site). 

  • Meadowbank Adult Education & Community Learning Centre located at Community Close, Cranford, TW5 9QX (a TfL travelcard will be offered for this site). 

  • Work placements with employers across Hounslow sites (a TfL travelcard will be offered for Hounslow based sites).
