Level 2 Site Carpentry & Joinery Apprentice
We are looking for Hounslow borough residents who are interested in completing a Level 2 Site Carpentry apprenticeship. The successful candidate will spend 24 months working as a Carpentry Apprentice as part of the CITB Shared Apprenticeship Scheme. Employed by Evolve Apprentices while earning a wage, gaining experience, and a qualification.
Hourly wage - £4.62 - £8.91 (NMW)
Statutory Sick and Holiday Pay + Bank Holiday Pay, automatic enrolment into the NEST Pension Scheme, Bike2Work Scheme partners, Apprenticeship Oyster Card available for first year travel discounts, NUS Discount Cards, course costs covered by company.
Working week - Monday to Friday, Weekends may be an option. Minimum of 35 hours per week but potential for more. Approx 8am - 4pm but hours will be confirmed by contractor after successfully passing the Stage 1& 2 interview.
Expected apprenticeship duration - 24 Months
Apprenticeship level - Intermediate Level Apprenticeship Level 2 (GCSE)
What will the apprentice be doing?
Alongside general labouring, Carpentry Apprentices can work in the below stages of a project.
- Form work carpenters make formwork that concrete is poured into
- First fix carpenters build framing and first fix work such as floor structures & walls, and bulkheads
- Second fix carpenters work on the final product such as doors, architraves, skirting boards, shelves, stair handrails and balustrades
- Kitchen fitter's, as the name suggests, fit kitchens and other cabinetry
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The qualification you would gain is the Level 2 Site Carpentry (Standard) where we will be looking to partner with Multi Trade Training to provide the training. For those already completed a Level 2, there is a Level 3 option.
This training will mainly be through remote learning with a paid study time as needed up to 7 hours/1 day per week. You are expected to travel when necessary though most assessments will be done on site. You will be responsible to managing/arranging with your line manager.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On completion of this apprenticeship, you can progress into the Level 3 Advanced qualification or work as a qualified Junior Site Carpenter where, with more experience, you can look to progress into a senior carpentry position, site/contracts/project management, self-employment, or carpentry business owner.
You will be eligible for the Skilled Worker (Blue) CSCS Card after the level 2 qualification
