We are looking for a Community Development Officer to support our Property Services Pillar. The role will support the Social Value Manager with community, client and resident engagement initiatives coupled with coordinating and delivering local employment and training opportunities in line with Property Services pillar and the Community Activity Investments.  Ensuring that our own and recognised industry standards of approach to working in communities are met and exceeded. To ensure we are involved in supporting worthwhile causes in innovative and resourceful ways, on an ongoing basis, in keeping with our Corporate Social Responsibility policy and to promote the United Living brand in a positive way, to existing and future customers and clients.

Purpose

To support the SVM with community, client and resident engagement initiatives coupled with coordinating and delivering local employment and training opportunities in line with Property Services pillar and the Community Activity Investments.  Ensuring that our own and recognised industry standards of approach to working in communities are met and exceeded.

 

To ensure we are involved in supporting worthwhile causes in innovative and resourceful ways, on an ongoing basis, in keeping with our Corporate Social Responsibility policy and to promote the United Living brand in a positive way, to existing and future customers and clients.

 

Specific Responsibilities

·       Delivery of work experience opportunities in line with our client commitments

·       Delivery of school engagement including attending careers events, employment-related workshops such as but not limited to CV writing, interview              techniques and preparing for work

·       Prepare case studies for submission to the marketing team

·       Promote our apprenticeship opportunities working in partnership with HR and Client’/Sub-Contractors as required

·       Support SV Manager and HR in the delivery of Apprenticeships

·       Take the lead as the Community Champion for Refurbishment (South) and deliver against key targets

·       Take the lead for Property Services (South) at the annual company Community Day working with Marketing, colleagues and Business Unit Directors            to deliver a good suite of community activity and associate PR and positive marketing

·       Maintain and update internal promotional boards, to provide staff with Community activity information

·       Maintain a calendar of events that is published internally

·       Produce a monthly report on community engagement and CSR items recording cashable and non-cashable benefits

·       Produce quarterly Newsletters featuring CSR, Community Engagement and Resident Liaison articles. For distribution to clients and key stakeholders.

·       Support colleagues in the planning, preparation and delivery of community events and initiatives tailored to suit each project. Liaise with clients’ and          our Resident Liaison Officers, as relevant to support project teams in their working relationships.

·       Organise community meetings and events at project inception and review improvements and working practices throughout the project.

·       Support the SVM in the engagement with and contribution to local communities.

·       Plus other duties relevant to community and social value delivery as required

 

Events

Identify charities, schools and local projects that we can sponsor, or invest in, relevant to our projects or offices.  As well as client promotions, such as open-days, fun-days, stunts and competitions, evening events, partnership working and team building events.

 

Support and run events, to a repeatedly good professional standard. Liaising with departments, contracts managers and working in the field with subcontractors to get these projects delivered as promised. Coordinate staff involvement where required.

 

Projects

Establish minimum requirements for our Working in the Community policy on all sites and offer consultation and recommendations to project teams on their impact on the local community and environment.

 

As a term of your employment you may be required to undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required of you commensurate with your general level of responsibility within the organisation.

 

Business Development

Ensure that our corporate identity is sufficiently visible and seen in a favorable manner at all events that we sponsor or take part in and that we document our community engagement with photographs for promotional use.

 

Provide support to SVM with the identification of activities plus reviewing bid promises.

 

General

Support SVM and HR in local recruitment and career information projects.

 

Work Instructions / Policies

Work with the SVM to co-ordinate activities and workload(s) ensuring that commitments made are suitably resourced and implemented.

 

Develop the Work instruction for – ‘Working in the Community’ incorporating the Considerate Constructors Scheme and other industry standards.

 

Work in compliance with United Way procedures.

Carrying out ad-hoc duties as and when required.
