AIM OF THE ROLE:

 

The role is part of a structured rotational training programme across sites to help provide a quality pharmaceutical service to patients of the Trust. The post holder will undertake the reconstitution of cytotoxic and other aseptically prepared items.

It is a two year fixed term training contract and dependant on the learner maintaining sufficient progress and meeting the training and assessment requirements of the course. Successful appraisal and completion of the first year is a requirement for entry into the second year. Completion of a portfolio of evidence within the allocated time is essential.

 

This training post works towards a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) level - the technician will participate in CPD on completion of the apprenticeship. Engineering Council for registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech). Registration is subject to candidates successfully completing the appropriate learning, developing the appropriate competence, and undergoing professional review.

West Suffolk College will deliver the underpinning knowledge. The delivery model includes distance learning through a Visual Learning Environment (VLE) for the underpinning knowledge qualification which provides ‘real time’ tutor led lessons across the internet.

 

 

 

TRAINING AIMS:

 

The aim of the Aseptic Services Apprenticeship training programme at ICHT is to develop trainee apprentices to have a patient centred approach to Aseptic manufacturing processes to deliver high standards of hospital pharmacy aseptic services.

 

 

We provide guidance and support to develop each trainee as fully as possible to achieve the knowledge, skills, attitude and level of competence required by the Awarding Bodies training programme. The broad skills and competencies based training will encompass:-  Aseptic preparation processes

Clean room design and behaviours

H&S and reducing risk in aseptic pharmaceuticals

Legislation, regulations and standards in aseptic pharmaceuticals

Quality management in aseptic pharmaceuticals

Roles, responsibilities and professional development in aseptic pharmaceuticals

Science in aseptic processing

Stock management in aseptic pharmaceuticals

Documentation in aseptic procedures

 

 

This training programme will equip the trainee with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a competent pharmacy technician with a strong patient and team focus. Training will also instil the Trust values:
